If you have been raped you have a voice.
Surrey Police has a specialist team of officers and staff, male and female, who specialise in investigating rape and sexual assault together with providing you with the support and care you need. We are aware that this is a difficult and sensitive crime to report for all survivors, including male survivors. We recognise that all survivors experiences are different. No matter who you are, how long ago the incident took place, your sexuality or gender, we are committed to offering choice, care and support whilst helping you through this difficult time. We will always try to listen and respect your wishes whilst providing you with appropriate advice.
Immediately after being raped there are decisions that you will need to make, the consequences of which will last for a long time. Having made the decision to report to police, we will ask some questions and, dependending on when the assault took place we may ask you to provide us with a mouth rinse or a urine sample. This can be critical in securing early forensic evidence and arresting the person responsible.
Our Sexual Offence Trained Officers (SOTOs) will be your point of contact during any police investigation and will be on hand to explain the police procedures and answer any questions about the judicial process.
