How to Report Hate Crime
We are committed to identifying and prosecuting perpetrators of all hate related crime.
Reporting incidents to police provides essential information which enables the police
to prevent further incidents taking place and to identify those responsible.
You can report Hate Crime in confidence by selecting the method of your choice.

What happens if I report on line?
Anonymous Reporting
If you decided to report your crime anonymously, the information you provide to us will be used to build intelligence about your area and may be used to help bring offenders to justice. Any community intelligence received is of great value and will be taken seriously.
You will not be contacted but will be provided with a transaction reference number to confirm your report has been submitted.
Personal Reporting
If you are happy to give us your name, we will review the information you have given us and either:
- Input the information straight onto our crime systems and forward you the Crime Reference Number via your preferred method of contact within 24 hours. You will then be contacted by the Crime Management Unit or an Investigating Officer, within 48 hours of reporting the crime.
- Contact you via your preferred method of contact to request further information within 24 hours of receiving your report. You will be advised of your Crime Reference Number at the end of the contact. You will then be contacted by the Crime Management Unit or an Investigating Officer within 48 hours of reporting the crime. All Hate Crime investigation is supported by a Hate Crime Coordinator.
You will be provided with an initial transaction number to confirm your report has been submitted.
Both methods of reporting will enable Surrey Police to be more effective in tackling Hate Crime.
Hate Crime Coordinators have been appointed in every division. These officers have been
specifically selected to advise and support victims of hate crime. See our

speedily respond, investigate, identify and prosecute offenders to the satisfaction
of the victim and the community, thereby seeking to reduce repeat victimisation.
