Transphobic Incidents

Surrey Police define a transphobic incident to be:

"Any incident perceived to be transphobic by the victim or any other person."

Surrey Police are committed to identifying and prosecuting perpetrators of transphobic crime. Reporting incidents to police provides essential information which enables the police to prevent further incidents taking place and to identify those responsible.

We will treat information sensitively and in confidence. All necessary steps will be taken to protect the identity of the person reporting the crime or providing information. We will record the incident regardless of whether the victim supports and further action to enable a better assessment of Hate Crime patterns.

Surrey Police Statement on Hate Crime

Surrey Police will not tolerate any form of Hate Crime and will speedily respond, investigate, identify and prosecute offenders to the satisfaction of the victim and the community, thereby seeking to reduce repeat victimisation.

Surrey Police recognise the reluctance of some victims to come forward to police for a variety of reasons. We are committed to identifying and prosecuting perpetrators. Our policy is to fully record and exhaustively investigate all forms of Hate Crime. We will give high priority to the investigation of Hate rime and a full range of investigative and forensic tactices will be employed.
