You can report Hate Crime to Surrey Police by:

Role of the Hate Crime Coordinators (HCC)

The role of the HCC is as follows:

  • Provide support, guidance, information and feedback to victims and potential victims of hate incidents
  • Provide support, advice and information to operational officers investigating hate incidents
  • Assess the information from officers attending hate incidents
  • Develop good working relationships with statutory, voluntary and community support agencies within their police area and ensure that these details are readily available to all police officers
  • Assist victims of hate incidents to access support agencies as appropriate
  • Attend local forums, in order to establish good working practices and innovative initiatives in handling hate incident / crime issues
  • Promote the role of the HCC internally and externally through local media and presentations as appropriate
  • Proactively work to raise the public awareness of hate incidents locally.

The HCC will ensure contact of all victims of hate incidents, unless contact has been declined, as soon as is practicable following notification of the incident.

HCCs are based in each division in Surrey Police.

Additionally there are LAGLOs (Lesbian and Gay Liaison Officers) specially trained to act as a link between the LGB community and the police.
